Welcome to the National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA) - your trusted source of knowledge and support in the fight against lung cancer
Public health has faced many challenges in recent decades, but one of the most serious remains the fight against lung cancer. The National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA) was created to improve the quality of treatment and health outcomes for lung cancer patients in the UK. Commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP), our initiative focuses on the most important aspects of healthcare that can improve the quality of life for thousands of patients.
Our Mission
NLCA was created in response to disturbing findings in the late 1990s that revealed that the outcomes of lung cancer patients in the UK were worse compared to other Western countries. Moreover, significant differences in the care offered by different organizations within the country were shown. Our goal is to reduce these disparities and ensure that every patient receives the highest quality care, regardless of where they live.
What We Do?
1. Data Collection and Analysis: NLCA systematically collects and analyzes data on the diagnosis, treatment and health outcomes of lung cancer patients. This allows us to identify areas for improvement and implement effective intervention strategies.
2. Improving Standards of Care: We work with healthcare entities to implement best practices and improve standards of care for lung cancer patients. Our recommendations are based on the latest research and evidence.
3. Education and Support: We organize trainings, workshops and conferences to educate healthcare providers and patients. Knowledge is the key to improving treatment outcomes.
4. Reporting and Transparency: We regularly publish reports that provide detailed information on the quality of lung cancer care. This ensures that patients, caregivers and medical facilities have access to reliable data.
Why It's Important?
Lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Therefore, improving the quality of care and treatment outcomes is not only our goal, but also our moral obligation. Through our efforts, we aim to reduce deaths and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
