About Us

About Us

The National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA) is an initiative to improve the quality of health care for lung cancer patients across the United Kingdom. We are a team of experts and passionate individuals who are joining forces to change the face of the fight against one of the deadliest cancers of our time.

Our Story

We were formed in response to alarming data from the late 1990s that indicated that lung cancer treatment in the UK was lagging behind other Western countries. Differences in healthcare approaches in different regions of the country also demanded immediate attention. Commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP), the NLCA aimed from the outset to reduce these disparities and raise standards of care for lung cancer patients.

Our Team

The NLCA team is made up of qualified professionals from various medical and scientific fields, including oncologists, epidemiologists, statisticians and healthcare quality experts. Our common goal is to apply the latest scientific advances to clinical practice so that every patient can receive the best possible care.

Our Values

    1. Quality: We strive to continually improve standards of patient care.
    2. Transparency: We believe that openness and access to reliable data are key to improving the healthcare system.
    3. Collaboration: We work hand in hand with medical facilities, patients and their families to achieve better results together.
    4. Innovation: We focus on cutting-edge solutions and technologies that can accelerate and improve diagnostic and therapeutic processes.

Our Activities

NLCA focuses on comprehensive activities that range from data collection and analysis to education and support for medical staff and patients. We organize training, create reports and recommendations, and work to bring best practices to hospitals and clinics across the UK.

Our Vision for the Future

We dream of a world where lung cancer is not a sentence and patients have access to the highest quality of care no matter where they live. Through our work, we aim to reduce deaths and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
